As Christian Courtin-Clarins, President of the Clarins Supervisory Board, once said: “When you take care of children, you take care of the world.”

This has been the driving force behind the 11-year ongoing feeding programme in partnership with philanthropic trailblazer Lauren Bush Lauren’s FEED projects to fight hunger.

Read on to find out why and how FEED was born, the woman behind the passion project and how you can take part in ending world hunger by supporting the Clarins x FEED partnership.

What is FEED? Fashion That Gives Back

FEED is a purpose-led and impact-driven lifestyle brand whose mission is to create sustainable and good products that help FEED the World. The goal is to provide nutritious school meals with every purchase and end world hunger.

“The ultimate goal of FEED would be to go out of business because we would have solved world hunger,” Lauren Bush Lauren was quoted as saying by ABC News

The brand sells a variety of totes, travel bags, work bags, pouches, tumblers, and accessories, designed by former fashion model and designer Bush Lauren.

Who is the founder of FEED?

Bush Lauren is the founder and woman behind FEED

Her name might probably ring a bell, being the niece of former President George W. Bush and wife of David Lauren, son of fashion icon Ralph Lauren.

Despite a life in the limelight, Bush Lauren has chosen to embark on a different path, stepping away from the political and mainstream fashion scene, and building a lifestyle brand that seeks to make a difference.

FEED was born after Bush Lauren witnessed first-hand childhood poverty and hunger while travelling across regions of Central America, Asia and Africa, as an honorary student ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme.

“My eyes were opened to the problem of world hunger that affects one in eight across the globe,” Lauren Bush was quoted by The Huffpost. “I was always interested in fashion and design, having spent time modelling and taking design classes during breaks from school. I created FEED to provide people with a tangible way to make an impact in the fight against hunger, with each purchase of a FEED product donating meals directly to children in need.”

Lauren Bush came up with the idea of creating a product that would raise public awareness of world hunger and set about designing and promoting her “FEED 1 bag.”

The “1” stands for one meal for one school child for one year.

Ever since, she has assisted in providing over 120 million meals globally through on-the-ground giving partners, like the United Nations World Food Programme.

How Does FEED Work?

Every product on the site has a number on it, representing the school meals donated with its purchase.

It provides one child with school meals in 63 of the poorest countries around the world, fights child malnutrition and enables those in underserved communities to pursue sustainable livelihoods.

FEED has ongoing partnerships with leading brands such as POLO Ralph Lauren, Disney, GAP, Tory Burch, and Clarins to name a few.

While I’ve seen first-hand the incredible impact one person can have on the life of a child through one purchase, I also know that we can do so much more by uniting to make a difference,” Bush Lauren says. “I personally feel powerful when I use my dollars to support causes that are near to my heart.”

Clarins x FEED partnership: Partners in the fight against hunger

The Clarins x FEED partnership started in 2011, when Christian Courtin-Clarins and Lauren Bush Lauren both shared a vision of making an impact in children’s lives by educating children, thus making the world a better place.

Clarins and FEED are proud to be supporting the UN’s food-assistance branch, the World Food Programme.
